We Made It!
After my last post electricity was slim so internet was definitely a no. There are phones up there but that seemed to be about it.
But yes we’re safe back in Pokhara in an ok hotel but it has hot water, electricity, and its warm. So its hard to sum up 8 days of hiking. I have not calculated it exactly but it was about 25 miles up and 25 back, so it was about 50 miles of hiking. We went from extreme high temperatures making us sweat to the very lows where it could have snowed. There were many times I think each of us were at our limits. Many of the villages have stairs made out of stones which is nice but after a few thousand in a row you think your gonna die. The meals got very limited as you got closer to the top and the prices went higher. We met some interesting people from all over the world and they were very friendly. The one thing I wont miss is being stared at by the locals and the porters. It seemed as if we had 2 heads but I know it was probably cause they knew we were from out of town. Also we had fancy trekking clothes on, and they were only wearing flip-flops and t-shirts. Anyways that’s the quick version for now.(more pictures to follow...)

Ryan. We know you held Mike along the way to keep his spirits up also. We wanna see those pics! :-o
ReplyDeleteWhat a view!
ReplyDeleteGlad to see you all survived the trek in one piece! Looking forward to reading and seeing more, but those pics are a fine teaser for now. Mostly it's just good to know you guys are back on the grid.
Hope the sheep didn't give you too much trouble!
i feel like creapy stalker every day wondering if something has posted and today my persistence pays off you posted.. which means ur alive...which means and you didn't have to end up eating anyone to survive...which means plan A owes me 20 bucks for losing the bet...which means you have to have some great stories...welcome back to cyber civilization..
ReplyDeleteHooray!! We've all been wondering and wondering. I looked online and didn't see any treks as short as yours. Does that mean you took the easy way out? No, it sure doesn't sound that way. You should have taken many pounds of energy bars! Next time. Anyhow, welcome back to the city. Bet you will be taking it easy after the mega-hike. Nice to see pictures and, of course, looking forward to the stories and lots more photos.
ReplyDeleteMom's relieved you finally posted. You should have heard the horror stories she was concocting to explain the silence on your end.
ReplyDeleteI kept being like:
"Mom, they probably don't have internet." -.- And She'd be all:
"THEY'RE DEAD!" D8
So yeah, glad to see you guys safe.
I love the picture of Katie and Corrine with the sheep. And I take it it was cold there. Unless Katie was just suddenly overwhemled by the urge to hug someone stoically. Which is also possible.
SO glad u guys are safe n sound & back in town! (The town of Pokhara, that is) The mountains look breathtaking. I'm sure it was worth the endurance & the intense stares from onlookers. (Btw, i'm assuming the fixated gazes were worse than those in Europe? U should be used to it by now, Ryan! ha ha)
ReplyDeleteYeah I think morally and physicaly we had to keep each other up but we made it. Chris, your the best stalker I know. Thanks for keeping it creepy! And the staring still bothers me. Not sure if Ill ever get use to it...
ReplyDeleteAlso the sheep and goats sense fear and go after those who have it! Look out Katie and Corrine! ha ha...
Wow, you don't even know how jealous I am right now, not gonna lie! It looks and sounds like an incredibly amazing adventure! Enjoy your last few days over there, can't wait to hear the stories when you all come back!
