Stranded Passengers in Distress...

Sooo...  If any haven't figured it out yet.  We are in New Jersey still.  Yesterday was an emotional roller coaster to say the least.  I was the biggest issue in the beginning.  We arrived at the airport and it suddenly hit me that I left my passport on my scanner bed the night before at my apartment. I felt instantly panicked.  But my options were slim.  I didn't want to, but I called my brother and asked if he could get me my passport and bring it to NJ.  He was awesome and said OK and was off.  I felt a bit better that things would work out.  It was then 3:30 and the flight was at 8:00 seemed we would have plenty of time even with traffic.... But as the time ticked down it was clear it would be tight.

Fast Forward to quick version:
  • 7:30 is the last moment to check in or I loose seat. BAD
  • Aaron arrives at the last minute. GOOD
  • I get my seat with seconds to spare. GOOD
  • As it goes through the woman notices we ALL need India visa's which none of us have. BAD
  • She calls the gate and has all the bags yanked off the plane. BADDER
  • Then informs us that we have to be rerouted on flight tomorrow to eliminate needing visa in India. WORST
  • We call hotel and tell them we need room and use the phrase "Stranded Passengers in Distress" get discount. GOOD
  • Food & Hot shower then bed. GOOD
Today:
  • Go to India (and then Nepal) HOPEFULLY GOOD

  1. At least you have had the opportunity to enjoy lovely Newark, New Jersey. I'm sure the unique sights and sounds of The Garden State rival that of any eastern land. Next time, don't bother with all those ridiculous passports and visas, just spend the weekend in beautiful Newark.

  2. some would say these are the times that try men's souls. i say these are the times that make the best stories! especially if the whole ordeal isn't costing you more than a night's hotel stay. i assume that would be cheaper than another visa.
anyways, someone told me recently that there is a lot to do i nearby elizabeth, nj. enjoy the garden state! :)

  4. There's so much to do in New Jersey. Who needs the Himalayas when there's scenic downtown Trenton in the colorful fall foliage!

  8. Your trip started off as a problematic situation but perhaps things will go completely smoothly now. I'm wondering if you have left BEAUTIFUL NJ yet. If not, you should be off soon. You'll have plenty of time to decompress on the day long flights. Blog when you can but I can't imagine there is much in the way of connectivity along the trails. Have fun!!
