We are now in Pokhara but here are some pictures of yesterday in Kathmandu. I am in a bit of a rush at the moment since I'm borrowing some Internet access at a restaurant we are about to leave from, so I will give more details later.
We took a bus to get here and we are all glad to get out of Kathmandu. That town is like staying in Tijuana and saying that we don't like Mexico. So before we say that we will wait till be explore more of Pokhara and then make our decision. Tomorrow morning we take off for our first day of the trek. Right now Tony is meeting with a local porter who will carry some of our bags. He seems confident that 2 bags at once is easy. Crazy... Anyways thats it for the moment. Hopefully Ill have a chance to give some more details on today and what the hike is like... Until then...
Actually, except for the power lines, it looks awesome. Wish I could be there, I think that beats a resort vacation by a long shot. Have fun and be safe, can't wait to see more pics
ReplyDeleteare your bodies noticing the altitude difference?
ReplyDeleteand why does kathmandu remind you of tijuana? are there little sherpas selling you chiclets?
So what's up with those power lines? Did they leave enough extra for furture roads? HAHA! Actually those wire bundles make make me think of the "Towel Monster" only it'd be the Wire Monster!! So how the carpet in those temples? Budatastic?!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pics, even (especially?) the power lines. I am surprised that so much of the signage in Kathmandu is in English, but I imagine there's more Nepalese advertising in Pokhara.
ReplyDeleteHave fun on your trek and keep away from the monkeys!
Kathmandu is a big, big city. I've been to Tijuana, so understand what you mean. Soon you will be hiking in much more pristine areas, away from the big cities. Should be wonderful. Happy hiking and look forward to updates as available. it's quite amazing how wired the world is nowadays. Thanks!!
ReplyDeleteI sure hope you get to do some 'Hotel Himalaya Yoga'(see birds nest photo) Sounds awesome. Enjoy the trek. Also the last picture above is beautiful. Good work team.
ReplyDeleteYay pictures!
ReplyDeleteThe picture of you guys must be from the top of your hotel, right? Or did you have a balcony or something?
The first picture looks like China with Greece in the background...or maybe that's just me.
No comment on the wires. On a completely unrelated subject, had any power outages yet?
Yes there was a power outage the first night we got there so it was a scary entry to the dirtiest place on earth! Every little shop in the city had tiny glowing lights... Kinda creepy!
